Pavlik harness questions parents ask

What is a Pavlik harness used for?
A Pavlik harness treats developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) in babies from birth to around six months. It holds the hips flexed to about 100-110 degrees and spread 50-70 degrees so the ball of the thigh bone sits in the socket and the socket deepens as the baby kicks.
How much does a Pavlik harness cost?
Our harness is $89 in every country, with free shipping inside the US and a $10 flat rate to every other country, with no minimum order. That includes the harness, a printed fitting guide, skin-care instructions and a measuring tape.
How long does a baby wear a Pavlik harness?
Most babies wear it full time, 23-24 hours a day, for six to twelve weeks, then wean to nights and naps for a further two to six weeks. The exact schedule is set by your treating surgeon based on ultrasound results.
How do I choose the right size?
Sizing is by chest circumference: Small 33-38 cm (0-3 months), Medium 38-44 cm (3-6 months), Large 44-50 cm (6-9 months). Measure under the arms with a soft tape and choose the larger size if you are between two.
Can I fit a Pavlik harness myself?
No. The harness must be fitted and its strap angles set by a clinician, and hip position must be confirmed by ultrasound. Self-fitting can leave the hip dislocated or force excessive abduction, which risks damaging the blood supply to the femoral head.
Do you ship worldwide?
Yes — we ship everywhere: free inside the US and a $10 flat rate to every other country, dispatched within 24 hours on business days.
